🎯 The problem
A chatbot can explain how to rename 50 files, but it can't do it on your PC. An assistant that can touch files has two risks: it might break something, or it might say "done" when nothing happened. Link is built to avoid both.
⭐ What it does
Always close by: it drops down from the top of the screen on hover or a shortcut.
Plain words: I type or speak in Turkish or English and drag files onto it.
29 built-in tools: PDFs, Excel, files, images, text from images (OCR), conversions, reminders and more.
⚖️ Key decisions
Local first, AI second: in Automatic mode the built-in tools run first, without AI, and a model handles the rest. I can also switch to Local only or Gemini only.
Approval before action: before Link saves, moves, renames or deletes anything, it shows what will happen and waits for my OK.
Done means verified: a task only counts as done when Link has checked the result itself, for example the files on disk or the values in the Excel file.
🧪 How I check quality
Link has 1,262 automated tests. Also, 30 real Turkish and English tasks run against real test files. The first run, with no AI model at all, had 0 false completions (success reported without a real result), 0 damaged files and 0 crashes. 10 tasks were verified as done. The others stopped and said so, because plain sentences only reach those tools through a model.
The run also found a real bug: timer requests were wrongly refused. I fixed it and added a test for it.
💻 Tech
App: Python on Windows (UI Automation, SQLite)
Interface: React, TypeScript and Tailwind CSS, first prototyped in Lovable, running in WebView2
AI: Qwen (4B) locally through Ollama, Google Gemini in the cloud
🚦 Status
Current version 8.64. I use Link on my own PC. A packaged build exists. A one-click installer is not verified yet.
